Ya To Barbaad Kardo, Ya Phir Aabaad Kardo,
Ya To Barbaad Kardo, Ya Phir Aabaad Kardo,

Either you could ruin me or make me feel free, lively.
Either you can ruin me, or you can make me feel a free and lively one.

Woh Galat Tha Yeh Sahi Hai, Jhooth Yeh Aaj Kehdo,
Itna Ehsaan Kardo, Itna Ehsaan Kardo, Poore Armaan Kardo,

That was wrong, but this is right; please, tell me this lie today.
Please, do me such kind of favor. Please, do this favor to me and fulfill my wishes.

Lab Pe Aakar Jo Ruke Hain, Dhayi Woh Harf Kehdo,
Meri Saanson Se Judi Hai, Teri Har Saans Kehdo,

The words you’ve resisted on your lips, please, say those words.
Your breaths are attached to mine; please, say that to me.

Mushkil Aasaan Kardo, Mushkil Aasaan Kardo,
Ya To Barbaad Kardo, Ya Phir Aabaad Kardo, Ya To Barbaad Kardo

Please, give me some relief from this trouble. Please, help me with this problem.
You can either ruin me or let me settle down. You can devastate me.

Meetha Sa Yeh Zehar, Main To Peeta Rahunga,
Tu Khuda Na Sahi, Main To Sajde Karunga,

This sweet poison of love, I am going to keep drinking.
You may not be God, but I will continue to bow and pray to you.

Meetha Sa Yeh Zehar, Main To Peeta Rahoonga,
Tu Khuda Na Sahi, Main To Sajde Karoonga,

I am going to keep drinking this sweet poison of love.
You may not be God, but I’m always going to bow and pray to you.

Tum Jo Sheerin Na Huye Kya, Humko Farhaad Kardo,
Meri Saanson Se Judi Hai, Teri Har Saans Kehdo,
Ya To Barbaad Kardo, Ya Phir Aabaad Kardo, Ya To Barbaad Kardo,

You may not be Shirin, but make me your Farhad, please.
[Shirin and Farhad AKA Khosrow and Shirin is the famous, tragic novel by Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi, who is also the author of Layla and Majnun.]
Please, tell me your breaths are connected to me.
You could either ruin me or make me feel free and joyful. You can either ruin me or make me feel open and cheerful.

Khwaabon Ko Jagah Ni Mili Aankhon Mein
Wahan Pehle Se Hi Sailaab Tha
Nagme Banata Phira Saazon Pe
Dil Apna Faqat-Mizraab Tha

The dreams had no place in my eyes
because they had already been flooded with tears.
It (my heart) attempted to create music-compositions, as it was merely a violin bow (fiddle stick).

Khwabon Ko Jagah Ni Mili Aankhon Mein
Wahan Pehlay Se Hi Sailaab Tha
Nagmey Banaata Phira Saazon Pe
Dil Apna Faqat Mizrab Tha

The dreams have not got a place in my eyes, as they have been flooded already with tears.
My heart tried to create melodies; my heart was just a fiddle bow.

Meri Bejaan Hasraton Qaabil-E-Daar Kardo
Meri Saanson Se Judi Hai, Teri Har Saans Kehdo,

Please, make my lifeless wishes of deserving to be hanged.
Your breaths are linked to mine; please tell me this.

Itna Ehsaan Kardo, Itna Ehsaan Kardo,
Poore Armaan Kardo, Ya To Barbaad Kardo,
Ya Phir Aabaad Kardo, Ya To Barbaad Kardo.

Please, do this favor for me. Please, do me such a favor,
And fulfill all my wishes. Either you can devastate me, or you can make me liveliest and free. You can destroy me.

Ya To Barbad Kar Do Ya Phir Abad Kar Do
Wo Galat Tha Yeh Sahi Hai Jhooth Yeh Aj Keh Do
Itna Ehsan Kar Do Itna Ehsan Kar Do
Poore Arman Kar Do

Either destroy me or light up my world.
That was wrong. This is right. Let me believe this lie.
Just do me a favor. Just do me a favor.
Fulfill this desire of mine.

Lab Pe Akar Jo Ruke Hain Dhai Wo Harf Keh Do
Meri Sanson Se Judi Hai Teri Har Sans Keh Do
Mushqil Asan Kar Do Mushqil Asan Kar Do
Ya To Barbad Kar Do Ya Phir Abad Kar Do
Ya To Barbad Kar Do

The words you are hesitant to say.please.say them.
Every breath of mine is yours now. Just say it.
Make it easy for me. Make it easy for me.
Either destroy me or light up my world.
Either destroy me.

Meetha Sa Yeh Zehar Main To Peeta Rahunga
Tu Khuda Na Sahi Main To Sajde Karunga
Meetha Sa Yeh Zehar Main To Peeta Rahunga
Tu Khuda Na Sahi Main To Sajde Karunga

I will drink this sweet poison for you.
You may not be God. But I’ll keep worshipping you.
For you. I’m going to drink this sweet poison.
Maybe you’re not God. But I will continue to worship you.

Tum Jo Sheerin Na Huye Kya Humko Farhad Kar Do
Meri Sanson Se Judi Hai Teri Har Sans Keh Do
Mushqil Asan Kar Do Ya To Barbad Kar Do
Ya Phir Abad Kar Do Ya To Barbad Kar Do

Even if you are not Juliet. Let me be your Romeo.
Every breath of mine is yours now. Just say it.
Make it easy for me. Make it easy for me.
Either destroy me. Either destroy me.

Khwabon Ko Jagah Na Mili Ankhon Mein
Wahan Pehle Se Hi Sailab Tha
Nagme Banata Fira Sajo Pe
Dil Apna Fatak Mijrab Tha

The dreams have no place in my eyes.
Because they are already flooded with tears.
My heart was trying to make melodies;
my heart was a fiddle bow.

Meri Bejan Hasraton Ko Kabiledar Kar Do
Meri Sanson Se Judi Hai Teri Har Sans Keh Do
Itna Ehsan Kar Do Itna Ehsan Kar Do
Poore Arman Kar Do Ya To Barbad Kar Do
Ya Phir Abad Kar Do

Make my soulless wishes worthy of being hanged, please.
Your breaths are bound up with mine; tell me this, please.
Just do a favor for me.
Satisfy this desire that I have. Either destroy me
or light up my world.

Ludo Hindi film | Aabaad Barbaad Music Video

The music video for ‘Abad Barbad’ track by Arijit Singh.

Sandeep Srivastava beautifully writes the song Aabaad Barbaad. It contains several Persian phrases like ‘Shirin-Farhad,’ which are characters of a love story. Farhad was Shirin’s lover, who had cut the mountain under the command of Shirin. And after he was tricked by Khusrow into believing that Shirin has died, he killed himself using the tools that he had used to carve her very image into the rock.

The word ‘Faqat’ means merely, simply or only, and the other Persian word ‘Mizraab’ means ‘fiddle-stick’ or ‘a violin bow.’ The phrase Qaabil-E-Daar can be interpreted into English as ‘deserving to be hanged.’
